Terrain and travel advice
The exposed bushes, rocks an open creeks continue to be a concern in the subalpine. The new snow will make for easier travel conditions but these early season hazards still exist. In the alpine, visibility will be low and at times whiteout conditions. Be prepared for whiteout navigation.
Daily Discussion
The Main Range received between 5 and 15cm of new snow in the past 24hrs. This new snow fell with moderate to strong westerly winds. In the alpine, expect to see cornice development starting and windslabs on lee slopes. Watch for unstable snow on isolated terrain features.
We need your eyes too. If you’ve been touring in the Alpine National Park we’d love to know what you have seen. Every little bit helps.
