TREND: IMPROVING / ONGOING / DETERIORATING
Wind loaded aspects lee to the north and west are prone to avalanche. Avalanches are 'Large and Likely’. Conservative terrain choices are essential to safe travel in the backcountry and any unpatrolled areas. This advisory is for the MSC North East Vic Alps region areas adjacent to and including Mount Hotham, Mount Bogong, Mount Feathertop, The Fainters and Bogong High Plains.
There is a healthy crust growth locking away some really touchy layers in the snowpack, if you find yourself in areas without a prevalent crust then , there is a considerable hazard beneath. These are super localised conditions at the moment so remember to take care if you find crustless steep terrain (steep south treed aspects) it is ‘certainly’ best avoided.
Always a big thanks to everyone who is helping make this possible through our membership kickstart and through our merchandise drive. Simon@MSC
We have 'upped' this to 'High' as the warming occurs which we are expecting to trigger natural slides. North westerly wind loading on south and east leeward aspects. Conservative terrain choices are essential to safe travel in the backcountry and any unpatrolled areas.
