MSC reports are now available via the Skida backcountry mobile app

Mountain Safety Collective and mobile app Skida have integrated their platforms, allowing backcountry tourers to access our daily bulletins and hazard ratings directly within the Skida interface.

Skida

Throughout the Australian snow season, MSC provides free Backcountry Conditions Reports that align with international standards. These reports offer daily observations and forecasts regarding all likely alpine hazards, including weather, ice, and avalanches. As part of MSC’s commitment to public information access, the report data is available via an API for other digital services like Skida to integrate with.

Skida is a Norwegian-based digital platform designed to help users plan and execute safer ski tours. The app consolidates several tools into one platform, featuring 3D maps, rated slopes, weather forecasts, and a comprehensive tour catalogue. Developed by backcountry skiers in close collaboration with a large community of ambassadors and partners, Skida positions itself as the number one digital partner for ski touring globally.

After initial testing in 2025, this new integration allows backcountry users to view MSC's local hazard forecasts while simultaneously analysing terrain using Skida's 3D maps and other tools. This allows for a more streamlined planning process, as skiers no longer need to switch between separate websites and applications to assess safety conditions and route viability.

As part of the collaboration, MSC members receive a 20% discount on Skida's full premium subscription. This premium tier unlocks advanced backcountry tools, including detailed route information, offline route accessibility, and custom route planning capabilities.
