Conditions Summary

Yesterday a field team traveled mainly on southerly aspects between 1600m-2050m. What a warm and windy day!

First thing in the morning the surface was crusty making for slippery skinning. In the afternoon, conditions softened and snow was moist to ridge top on all aspects. Ski conditions were good but becoming slower and stickier the below 1900m on a SE aspect.

Daily Discussion
Overall, it is a great time to be traveling in the mountains and coverage is good from all trailheads making for easy access.

The temperatures have decreased overnight so you can expect ‘firm’ (icy) conditions first thing. Be cautious on steep icy slopes.

As the day warms up, soft conditions are making for fun skiing.

The tricky thing today may be the visibility. Always be prepared for whiteout navigation.

Confidence: Moderate

Uncertain of extent of cloud cover today.

We need your eyes too. If you’ve been touring in the Alpine National Park we’d love to know what you have seen. Every little bit helps.
