Conditions Summary

In the alpine, there is plenty of wind etched snow on windward aspects and cross loaded features. There are also isolated areas of ice where the storm snow was stripped away during the storm by strong - extreme NW winds.

Yesterday there was great skiing in sheltered areas, specifically east to south aspects below ridges.

Daily Discussion

Tests in the alpine yesterday did not reveal any instabilities in the upper snowpack. However with a mostly clear day ahead and forecasted rising temperatures, exercise caution on steep solar slopes. Evaluate terrain and snow carefully before committing to your line.

The weather is set to deteriorate this afternoon with strengthening winds and possible snow.

Confidence: STRONG

We need your eyes too. If you’ve been touring in the Alpine National Park we’d love to know what you have seen. Every little bit helps.
