Terrain and travel advice
A raincrust will have formed overnight at higher elevations and you may encounter ice, breakable crust or heavy wet snow. It is expected that the loss of snow will have exposed bushes and rocks and opened up the creeks. Up high there will be low visibility tending to whiteout. Any backcountry travel should be undertaken with extra caution.

Daily Discussion
We had over 100mm of rain & warm temps yesterday. A light overnight freeze will have caused a surface raincrust in the alpine and locked up the very wet snowpack. With cooler temps today, hopefully the precipitation will be snow and help to repair the damage.

We need your eyes too. If you’ve been touring in the Alpine National Park we’d love to know what you have seen. Every little bit helps.
