Regional Outlook:
A warm and wet day ahead. Forecast is for rain, heavy at times, to continue through the day. Temperatures are too far on the plus side for snow at this time, but they are forecast to decrease as the cold front passes through. Fingers crossed, this prefrontal rain to give way to snow tomorrow.

Terrain and travel advice
Have any errands to run today? Need to catch up on your reading? With heavy rain and whiteout conditions, today is a good day to get everything else done on your to do list so that when the snow comes, you are ready.
If you are going out, avoid avalanche terrain in the alpine as the snowpack is rapidly loosing cohesion and loose snow avalanches are possible.
Daily Discussion
We have received 60-70mm of rain so far and it continues to rain heavily. The rain is falling to mountain top and as such both the subalpine and the alpine will be greatly affected by this influx of heat. It is likely the rain will permeate the snowpack making it less supportive until the temperatures decrease again and it refreezes.
Avoid avalanche terrain in the alpine.
We need your eyes too. If you’ve been touring in the Alpine National Park we’d love to know what you have seen. Every little bit helps.
