Regional Outlook:
Overnight was a pretty wild storm. The timing was wrong for snow with the moisture arriving before the cold snap. Only a few centimetres in. Now, and preceding the storm we have good cold temps so the limited cover (rain affected) should hold out and travel conditions vastly improve.

Terrain and travel advice
With the re-freeze and the flurries the snow is supportive and the new snow is dry and filling in the gaps as I write this. Windchill is at -15˚ at the moment however the visibility has improved from whiteout to poor in subalpine area, above the trees will still be pretty tough going. Go-on, go and scooch along a track or snowshoe up a hill. You know you need it. Take care out there.

Daily Discussion
The base is now formed and firm, needs snow to be actually able to travel on anything other than snowshoes. Looking forward to the next front and how the snow we have holds up. Stay tuned.

We need your eyes too. If you’ve been touring in the Alpine National Park we’d love to know what you have seen. Every little bit helps.
