Conditions Summary

The main descriptor of yesterday was WET. Steady rainfall in the sub-alpine penetrated into the snowpack and weakened it. In some areas the snow was not supportive to walking or skiing with collapsing occurring around shrubs in particular.

Daily Discussion:
Temperatures have decreased over night and after yesterday’s rain, expect to find icy conditions in your travels: in particular, a breakable surface crust in the sub-alpine.

There is still great uncertainty in the alpine. If venturing up high, carefully evaluate the snowpack, and be conservative and cautious with your route selection. Human triggered avalanches are possible.

Confidence: LOW

We need your eyes too. If you’ve been touring in the Alpine National Park we’d love to know what you have seen. Every little bit helps.
