Travel & Terrain advice:
With snow continuing on and off through the day, low visibility and strong winds, travel in the Alpine is not recommended. Windward aspects may be scoured with localised ice. The snow depth will have increased however there will still be plenty of obstacles out there, so best to wait for better visibility once the storm has passed. PH

Snow Surface Conditions Summary

No observations due to the blizzard. Snow expected to be heavy due to the mild temps, and variable conditions as a result of the strong winds.

45LeewardSnowpack@1x.png

Leeward aspects are expected to consist of accumulated snowdrifts mixed with scoured areas. Shallow snowpack obstacles should still be present, particularly at lower elevations.

44BannerWinwardSnowpack@1x.png

Windward aspects will be scoured with areas of localised ice. Not where you want to be!

Weather Summary

With temperatures dropping and a second front expected to come through, snow is expected above 1000m. Winds will be WNW in the 30-45 kmh range with stronger gusts.
